Application Supporters

If you are or have been a regular garden user you could help us in the application to register the garden as a Town Green.

Many of the things you would do in a park are uses that qualify an open space for registration as a Town Green. This is a very small open space - but size doesn't matter although it restricts the range of activities. In our case qualifying activities would include:
  • Children playing
  • Picnicking
  • Walking the dog
  • Wandering
  • Taking the air
  • Reading and writing
  • Sketching, drawing and painting
Sitting in the sun, taking in the view, and chilling are not included but socialising (historically 'promenading') a more active pastime, would count. I'm sure you get the idea but you can see a more extensive list here.

The only catch is that in order qualify you also have to LIVE in one the wards within the Stroud Parish boundary, which are outlined in green on this map.

Here's a link to larger maps on the Stroud Town Council site.

If you live within the Stroud Parish boundary you can download this Evidence Questionnaire to record the details of how you have used the garden and over what time period. You will need to print out this map and this plan of the garden to accompany your completed questionnaire. You can then post it or deliver it by hand to:

Stroud Town Council
Thanet House
58 London Road
Stroud

Please mark the envelope 'Keep the Garden Open'.

We have a poster you can print out and put in your window or give to friends.

If you DON'T LIVE within the green boundary you can still support the campaign to keep the garden open.
